Acacias Flowers

Are some Acacias harmful to humans?

I notice that whenever I get pricked by the Acacia thorns, the site swells, is painful and sometimes leaves a hard feverish bruise. Is this normal? Is there anything in the Acacia that can produce such a reaction?
